One Mic One Night Showcase

Unheard Voices held its first talent showcase called One Mic One Night, on the Jersey Shore on October 5th, 2013.

Hosted by Todd Stathum and music by D.J. Bundie, the Jersey Shore community came out to witness history, and watch performers from different parts of the nation pour their heart and soul on the stage.

The event was nothing short of amazing with performances by Jason Rogers & ALC, DanO, Tigga, Reeves, Stable of SMG, Tickey Boom Boom of SMG, El Maroc Band, A.R. Stylez, Gully Time, The Party, Drea, and Royal.

Internship Program

In 2012, Unheard Voices launched its internship program in conjunction with the Adam Bucky James Community Center in Long Branch, NJ. The program allowed students to gain skills in journalism, video production, digital media production, and content management.

Neptune Township Celebrates Unheard Voices Founder, CEO, and other prominent shore journalists

Neptune Township, New Jersey honored prominent black journalists at its 17th annual black history celebration Saturday at the Performing Arts Center at Neptune High School.

“Speaking Truth: African Americans in Journalism” and “African Americans and the Vote” were the themes of the program.

Journalists’ past and present were recognized, including keynote speaker Michelle Rice, general manager of TV One and a Neptune High School graduate.

Unheard Voices founder and his daughter, who is the CEO and Neptune High School graduate, were honored for more than 15 years of social journalism covering stories locally and aboard. Founded by Mr. Covin in 2004 as a newsletter, Unheard Voices has worked with various organizations and the community striving to being the beacon for the voiceless.
